Neil Mekota. Noise from the basement. Born in the static, raised by the red lights.
Twenty thousand streams and counting, but the numbers don’t hear the ghost in the machine. He works after the city goes quiet, cuts the lights, and lets the tape run until something honest leaks out. The good ones come at the bottom of the night, when the comedown and the kick drum line up and he stops being careful. No press kit. No face on the cover. Just the room, the habit, and whatever the two of them remember in the morning.
None of it is clean and he won’t pretend it is. The fix and the record keep the same hours. Some nights the fix wins, some nights the tape does. The ones that survive both end up here.
